Upper Body Russian Twists isolated the oblique muscles to produce rotation of the mid section. Keeping the hips high throughout the movement activates the erector spinae muscle and the deep spinal muscles which assist in rotation. Upper Body Russian Twist are a safe exercise for individuals with enough balance and coordination to perform the movement.
If you are unable to coordinate the movement or are a beginner and looking for an exercise working similar muscles perform theraband pushes and twists
Russian Twists are beneficial for sporting movements involving rotation of the trunk such as tennis, golf or cricket

- Keep your hips high throughout movement
- Focus on contracting Glutes (bum) and lower back muscles
- Twist by rolling the ball rather then moving your arms
