Lunge Burpees
Lunge Burpees are a whole body exercise that is balanced between strength, flexibility, core and cardio. Lunge burpees are a great circuit exercise as they keep the heart rate elevated burning plenty of calories whilst not fatigue any particular muscle group to the point where another compound movement can't be performed.
Lunge Burpees can be used in a circuit with simple core exercise (sit ups or Russian Twist) and another compound movement (Kettlebell Swings). Alternatively use lunge burpees in a cardio routine
Functional Benefit
A great circuit and weight loss exercise. The Lunge burpee also increases adductor flexibility along with hip flexor flexibility. Having flexibility in these muscle groups is important in squatting, running or lifting movements.
Exercise Technique Tips - Lunge Burpee
Place foot as close to the hand as possible during the lunge movement
Stand up completely inbetween repetitions to create hip flexor stretch in the back leg
Feet should be apart in the stand up lunge position and together in the bridge position
