Bench Push ups
Bench Push ups develop strength in the pectoralis major, minor and tricep mucles. The Serratus Anterior is also active to stabilize and protract the scapular during the movement.
A program containing push ups should be performed with opposing movements like Bent Over Rows or Reverse Flys to balance the muscle development in the shoulders and upper back. Performing Push ups through the full range of motion, ie taking the chest close to the bench will prevent the chest muscle tightening
Push ups also activate the core muscles due to the prone body position
Exercise Technique Tips - Bench Push ups
Hands should be positioned in line with the nipples so your upper arm is at 70deg to your torso
Hips should be down so your posture mimics a bridge
The lower the bench the harder the exercise, choose a higher object for a easier version
